Our Story
Our story tells the tale of our sisterhood, it begins with the strength we found in the face of illness challenges, leading to the birth of our very own non-profit organization, [Voices for Kidney Patients] something we're both incredibly proud of and passionate about!
For nearly 22 years, Ayesha battled a serious autoimmune disease, specifically dealing with a condition called [glomerulonephritis Kidney.org]. In June 2017, just two weeks after learning that Naima was a strong match among siblings, we underwent the transplant at the University of Michigan transplant center https://www.uofmhealth.org/conditions-treatments/transplant
This marked a transformative journey that began long before the actual transplant in July 2017.
Our Celebration Trip
One-year post-transplant, we embarked on our first international trip to celebrate and explore kidney-related issues in our birthplace, Pakistan. Our journey led us to SIUT (Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation) at https://siut.org/ where we had the privilege of briefly meeting Dr. Rizvi a renal transplant surgeon and the founder of SIUT, which stands as the largest kidney transplant center in Pakistan.
During this short encounter, we gained valuable insights from Dr. Rizvi's fellow doctors about the challenges faced by the people of Pakistan in dealing with kidney disease.
Celebrating Seven Years Since Our Kidney Transplant
As we celebrate our 7th anniversary of the life-changing kidney transplant, we reflect on the transformative journey it has had on our perspectives. A world of possibilities and the unconditional love of giving the gift of life.
